Heat indices to approach 105+ through Wednesday afternoon

WEDNESDAY: It’s another hot and humid afternoon across Mid-Missouri, as temperatures continue to climb into the lower 90s. Heat indices through lunch, will be in the 100-102 degree range and approaching 105+ through the afternoon. It’s for this reason that heat advisories are in effect for all of Mid-Missouri, excluding Phelps and Pulaski counties, until this evening. However, a ll counties need to be aware of the heat as heat indices will be in the triple digits through the majority of the state. Winds will come in from the southwest at 10-15 mph under mostly sunny skies. TONIGHT: Low temperatures will remain warm, falling into the upper 70s. Skies will remain mostly clear for most of mid-Mo with increased cloud cover to the north. Storms in far northern Missouri Wednesday night could make it as far south as HWY 24 in northeastern Missouri by Thursday morning. EXTENDED: Clouds will spread into areas north of I-70 early Thursday while areas farther south will have mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will heat up into the low to mid 90s south of I-70 Thursday and stay in the low 90s farther north with heat indices at 98-103 degrees. A cold front will move south Thursday afternoon and overnight, bringing a chance of storms. Temperatures will come down a few more degrees Friday with a better chance of storms early, before noon. High temperatures will drop into the upper 80s and heat indices in the lower 90s. We will stay near 90 for highs this weekend under mostly sunny skies.
