Knockerball lawsuit against Jefferson City mall could move forward

A bench trial is scheduled in the lawsuit involving the Capital Mall in Jefferson City and a Boone County man.

The lawsuit also names KnockerBall USA and Zoom Sports Products as defendants.

According to court documents obtained by ABC 17 News, Derek Hart claims he suffered injuries, including paralysis, while using the large inflatable rubber balls known as knockerballs while at KnockerBall MidMo last December.

Hart reportedly wasn’t given any guidance or told how to properly use the device by the store’s employee.

An amendment dropped the business and a worker from the lawsuit in May.

The court hearing is expected to take place in Cole County Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m.
