Two Columbia residents arrested for endangering welfare of children, drugs

Columbia police officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of Jefferson Street on Sunday to assist another agency.

Two children, ages two and three, were inside of the home unclothed and unsupervised. Officers and the Division of Family Services found the refrigerator open with eggs and other food broken on the floor. The children were naked with feces smeared on them both.

Kieya Hubbard and Marc Smith were in side of the home sleeping, and didn’t realize that the children were awake. Officers noticed the cockroaches and rotten food in the kitchen of the messy home. A glass smoking pipe was found in the upstairs bathroom of the home as well.

Marc Smith said that the glass pipe belonged to him. The officer followed Hubbard to her room, where the officer found a crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.

A narcotics search warrant was served at the home and officers found half an ounce of methamphetamine, several digital scales, small plastic baggies $3100 in cash.

Kieya A. Hubbard was arrested for two counts of first degree endangering the welfare of a child. Marc Smith was arrested fpr felony unlawful distribution of controlled substance.
