Board of Education to finalize sidewalk repair contract for three Columbia schools

Sidewalks at Blue Ridge Elementary, West Middle and Rock Bridge High schools are expected to be repaired once a contract is finalized Monday night at the Columbia Public School District’s Board of Education meeting.

The sidewalk repair service agreement is with Precision Concrete Cutting Midwest.

According to the agreement provided by the district, the company will:

Remove trip hazards measured to the Americans with Disabilities Act standard of .25 inches and higher Cut curbs to a ratio of 12-to-1 to comply with March 2012 ADA specifications Provide grind repairs, including correcting slope and eliminating current hazards Provide concrete waste removal Use a dust abatement system

The repairs should cost no more than $10,639, according to the contract.

If approved, the repairs are expected to start as soon as Tuesday and finish no later than Aug. 15.

The cost of the repairs is covered by the school district’s facilities and construction services operating budget.
