A trial was canceled for a Columbia man after he pleaded guilty in February to involuntary manslaughter and delivery of a controlled substance in connection to a drug overdose death from August 2020 in Miller County.

William Crooks pled guilty without a negotiated plea agreement with the State regarding disposition, meaning he faces a potential prison sentence of 20 years.

According to court documents, Crooks gave Fentanyl to the victim causing the 29-year-old woman to overdose.

A sentencing hearing is scheduled for April 13 for Crooks.
