Arizona man arrested after chase that reportedly hit 125 mph
CALLAWAY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)
An Arizona man is accused of leading law enforcement officers on three separate chases across Callaway County and into Boone County, reaching speeds well over 100 mph.
George Cambronero, 41, of San Tan Valley, Arizona, was arrested after a chase that started late Tuesday and reached speeds of 125 mph, according to a release from the Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
The Holts Summit Police Department said the driver reportedly ran from several law enforcement agencies, including the Fulton Police Department and Callaway County Sheriff's Office.
Officers engaged Cambronero in three separate chases, each of which began in Callaway County, according to the sheriff's office. Authorities said his black Mercedes also drove on the wrong side of Highway 54 at one point during the pursuit. Columbia police joined the effort when the chase went onto Interstate 70 in Boone County, the sheriff's office said.
The chase then went back into Callaway County on I-70, where speeds hit 125 mph, the sheriff's office said. The Mercedes was finally stopped after it hit a deputy's cruiser on Highway 54, the sheriff's office said. Officers used tire deflation tools twice during the pursuit.
The deputy wasn't hurt.
Cambronero was in the Callaway County Jail on Wednesday afternoon on suspicion of methamphetamine possession, resisting arrest and other crimes, the sheriff's office said.
