Boone County deputies investigate February shooting east of Columbia
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Boone County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting earlier this month that left a person hurt and that might be connected with another in Columbia later that day.
Deputies said the victim was shot around 1 p.m. Feb. 16 in the 1000 block of South Roseta Avenue, east of Columbia. The victim was treated for an injury that was not life-threatening, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies said the gunfire also hit a nearby home. A trash truck and city of Columbia workers were in the area at the time of the shooting but no one was hurt or involved, according to the sheriff's office.
The Roseta Learning Center is located nearby but also wasn't involved. No arrests have been made in direct connection with the shooting. However, a probable cause statement focusing on a suspect in a later shooting in northeast Columbia mentions an incident on Roseta Avenue earlier the same day. The later shooting, on Talon Road, injured one man.
A witness to the Talon Road shooting told police during an interview that a family member's home had been shot earlier on Roseta. It's not clear how the incidents might be related.
More details about the Roseta shooting weren't immediately available.
