WATCH: David Seamon, Columbia mayoral candidate, talks plans if elected

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

David Seamon, a Columbia mayoral candidate and current Columbia Board of Education member, joined ABC 17 News This Morning on Monday to discuss his plans for the city if elected.

When Seamon announced his candidacy in October, he said he is committed to a vision of municipal governance that focuses on equity.

According to a news release, Seamon is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and graduated from Rock Bridge High School and Columbia College. The candidate says he works nights at Scholastic, Inc., and is also working on an executive Master's in Public Administration through the University of Pennsylvania.

If elected on April 5, Seamon would be Columbia's first Black mayor.

The other four candidates who have filed to run for mayor of Columbia plan to join ABC 17 News This Morning throughout the rest of the week:

  • Tuesday: Barbara Buffaloe
  • Wednesday: Randy Minchew
  • Thursday: Maria Oropallo
  • Friday: Tanya Heath

The deadline to register to vote in the April election is next Wednesday, March 9.
