State lawmakers to meet Monday for anti-abortion special session
Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens called for a special session Friday so state lawmakers can discuss new abortion regulations Monday.
In a video posted on Facebook Friday, Greitens said pregnancy care centers are under attack in cities like St. Louis by not letting them work like they are supposed to.
“Politicians are trying to make it illegal, for example, for pro-life organizations to say that they just want to hire pro-life Missourians,” Greitens said.
Greitens said he wants common-sense health and safety standards in all medical facilities, such as requiring annual safety inspections of abortion clinics.
Greitens also said one of the proposals would stop abortion clinics from interfering with ambulances and first responders.
The special session will start 4 p.m. Monday.
