Police detain second teenager in deadly McKee Street shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Columbia Police Department has detained a second teenager after a deadly shooting on McKee Street.

Police said Thursday that the 16-year-old boy was taken into custody on possible charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and assault.

A girl was shot around 12:40 a.m. on Saturday in the 1800 block of McKee Street, according to the police department. Police said the girl was taken to a hospital where she later died. Two other people were hurt in the shooting.

The 15-year-old victim, Aubry Doxley, was a student at Battle High School. A vigil in her memory was held Monday at McKee Street Park, near her home.

On Tuesday, the police department announced a different 16-year-old teenager was taken into custody for first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and assault.

Police said officers are still investigating the shooting. It wasn't clear Thursday whether either of the teenagers will be certified to face adult criminal charges. They are in the custody of juvenile authorities.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
