Cole County man arrested after car chase

Moniteau County Sheriff’s Office deputies saw a suspicious vehicle parked by a business located in California, Mo. while they were on patrol.

As the deputy was waiting to turn around and check the vehicle, he saw it leave the parking lot. The deputy tried to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle, and the vehicle tried to flee.

The deputy chased the vehicle just south of California, Mo, where the vehicle missed a corner and ran into an embankment.

The driver of the vehicle then climbed out of the vehicle and led the deputy on a foot chase until the driver of the vehicle was caught.

Methamphetamine was discovered on the subject’s person along with two large knives and a gun holster. Two guns were found inside of the vehicle. Drew Clayton Puckett, 28, of Centertown, Mo was identified as the driver.

On Monday, Puckett was charged with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of unlawful use of a weapon and resisting arrest. Puckett has a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
