Police arrest man accused of taking officer’s taser

Columbia police have a arrested a man who they say disarmed an officer.

It happened around 11:30 Sunday night in the 3600 block of Greeley Drive.

The female victim called police after Robert Rehmer went into her home without permission and was laying face down on her kitchen floor.

When officers went to take Rehmer into custody, they say he started pulling away and flailing his arms.

Officers say they deployed a taser after Rehmer refused verbal commands.

Police say the taser deployment was ineffective and say Rehmer then grabbed the officers taser. They say refused to let go.

Officers were eventually able to take Rehmer into custody and regain control of the taser.

Rehmer was arrested on suspicion of disarming a peace officer, resisting or interfering with an arrest, and trespassing.

ABC 17 News checked CaseNet and Rehmer is not yet charged.
