The London Bridge attack Saturday night is the U.K’s third attack in 2017.

ISIS claimed responsibility for Saturday’s attack, but has not offered any evidence.

Twelve arrests have been made in connection to the attack. Saturday night’s attack killed seven people and injured 48, nearly half are in critical condition.

Three attackers were killed by police in Saturday night’s incident. Police say the attackers were wearing fake explosive vests.

A Canadian has been identified as one of the victims killed. So far no American citizens have been reported to be among the injured or dead.

Local reaction

One Columbia resident told ABC 17 News the attack in London is harder to comprehend than others because a car was used as a weapon.

“This thing that happened yesterday, that was much scarier because I don’t know, Angela Speck said. “What are you suppose to do? Stop people from driving?”

Speck is a Professor at Mizzou but went to college in London, and has family there.

“I think it got a whole lot scarier in a way that it hasn’t been so far,” Speck said.

Columbia City Councilman Ian Thomas is from London and told ABC 17 News that he hopes we find a way to stop these attacks.

“We need to find a way to combat this kind of anti-societal behavior,” Thomas said.

United States reaction

According to the U.S Department of Homeland Security website, U.S. authorities say they are working with their foreign counterparts to gain further insight.

The Department said there is no credible terror threats in the United States.
