MSHP releases Memorial Day weekend numbers

The Missouri State Highway Patrol released the results of Memorial Day weekend.

During the counting period of 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 26, through 11:59 p.m., Monday, May 29, MSHP had 345 traffic crashes. 128 people were injured and five people died in these crashes.

Troopers arrested 107 people for driving while intoxicated and also made 125 drug arrests.

In 2016, 13 people were killed during Memorial Day Weekend. MSHP had 347 traffic crashes. 128 injuries and six of the 13 total fatalities were included in those crashes. Troopers also arrested 135 people for driving while intoxicated.

There were no boating fatalities over the 2017 Memorial Day weekend. There were 14 boating crashes and seven injuries. Three people drowned over the weekend, and troopers arrested 20 boaters for boating while intoxicated, along with made six drug arrests.

In 2016, there were also no boating fatalities. There were 13 boating crashes involving eight injuries. Troopers arrested 21 people for boating while intoxicated and made 71 drug arrests.

Of the five traffic crash fatalities, one victim was in Lee’s Summit, one was in Macon and the other three fatalities were in Weldon Spring.
