Tracking a taste of spring before another winter reality check

TONIGHT

After climbing near 70 under partly cloudy skies, winds stay southerly tonight to keep things on the mild side. Temperatures fall into the 50's overnight. All this warmth comes with more moisture in the atmosphere. This builds shower chances in by tonight. Thunderstorms are possible tonight, mostly south of I-70. Still, don't be alarmed if you hear a rumble of thunder in the northland. Severe weather is a possibility closer to I-44, with strong winds a possibility.

TUESDAY

Rain will linger into Tuesday morning before exiting by midday. As a cold front wipes away the rain, temperatures will begin to fall throughout the day. Tuesday morning we start in the low 50's, and fall into the 30's by late afternoon. We are in the teens by Wednesday morning.

EXTENDED

Highs will only reach the upper 20’s and low 30’s for the rest of the week. With cold air in place, we’re tracking a few disturbances moving through, tapping into that cold air. The first will arrive late Wednesday, possibly bring a few snow showers to Mid-Missouri. Accumulations look fairly limited at this point in time. A second disturbance moves in Thursday, which will pack a bit more of a punch. This one appears to have a shot at bringing a few more inches of snow with it, with the timeframe looking to center around the daylight hours Thursday. Things will settle down once again into this weekend, but temperatures will stay cool, with highs in the mid to upper 30’s.
