Two teens arrested in Columbia armed robbery

Columbia police arrested an 18-year-old man and 16-year-old girl in connection with an armed robbery in the 5000 block of Bethel Street Friday night.

Officers were called to the area near Dads Way just before midnight Friday. Police said James Yearwood was identified as the person who pointed a gun at another 18-year-old man and demanded property. He then took off in a red van.

Police found Yearwood and the teenage girl in the van a short time later aT the Petro Mart on St. Charles Road.

Yearwood was arrested on suspicion of armed criminal action and first-degree robbery. The 16-year-old girl was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
