Missouri State Highway Patrol prepares for Memorial Day weekend

Starting on Friday, the Missouri State Highway Patrol will be participating in Operation C.A.R.E

C.A.R.E. stands for crash awareness and reduction effort.

As soon as drivers start heading out for their holiday weekend plans, troopers will be stationed every 20 miles monitoring the traffic.

Troopers will be looking for excessive speed, careless and aggressive driving.

Troopers will also be on the road to help motorists if needed.

According to ABC17’s last year’s reports, 7 people died over the weekend, none of them in Mid-Missouri.

Highway Patrol says, “The only survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens.”

Drivers are asked to drive carefully this weekend and pay full attention to the road.

Troopers will also be out on the water this weekend. They will be monitoring all boating violations and careless watercraft operations.

Troopers say to wear life jacket at all times, share the waterway and have good common sense.
