Hazardous materials technicians called to Welcome Inn for insect powder

The Columbia Fire Department was called to the Welcome Inn in Columbia on Wednesday night after reports of a chemical smell coming from one of the rooms.

The Columbia Fire Department’s Hazardous Materials Truck was one of the responding units. White powder was strewn across the floor along with empty pest control canisters. The powder was a insect crawling powder.

There were no injuries from this incident.
