Tornado Watch, threats and timing of Thu night storms

A few storms are expected to develop by late Thursday afternoon in western Missouri and spread east mainly north of I-70 close to a warm front. These storms will be spotty but could be strong or severe with a possible tornado, strong damaging winds to 65 mph or large hail up to 3 inches in diameter. Chariton and Saline counties are in a Tornado Watch until 10 PM due to a better chance of a tornado. However, any storms farther east will also pose a severe threat this evening.

Heading overnight, a line of storms will increase in western Missouri and track east, entering Mid-Missouri after midnight. These storms will have the potential of producing damaging wind of 58 mph or greater and large hail. The severe threat will decrease into the late-night hours but isolated severe storms will still be possible.
