Woman on Columbia’s ‘Most Wanted’ list caught
UPDATE: Mackenzie Nakole Quiovers appeared in court by video Monday afternoon.
Judge Deborah Daniels set Quiovers bond at $1 million, cash only. Quiovers will undergo a bond investigation to see if her bond should be lowered or set higher.
ORIGINAL: Online arrest records show that Boone County deputies arrested Mackenzie Nakole Quiovers Saturday afternoon on charges of kidnapping and second-degree murder.
Quiovers, 22, had warrants out for her arrest for allegedly being involved in a fatal crash after kidnapping three children with Demetres Washington, 31, the mother of the children, on March 8.
A sergeant at the Boone County Sheriff’s Department said correctional officers picked up Quiovers at a jail in Kansas Saturday. He did not have information as to what lead to her arrest in Kansas.
According to court documents, Washington and Quiovers allegedly lured three of Washington’s children from their aunt’s home before they crashed at Route J and I-70.
Quiovers and Washington, along with the children, went to University Hospital for treatment.
One of the children died at the hospital a few days after the crash.
While being treated at the hospital, warrants were issued for Washington and Nia Boldridge, an alias Quiovers used at the time.
Columbia police arrested “Boldridge” outside of the hospital two days after the crash. After more investigation, officers found out that “Boldridge” was actually Quiovers. Police then officially took Quiovers into custody.
Quiovers showed up to her first court appearance on March 10.
She was released from the Boone County Jail on March 17 on her own recognizance to receive more medical treatment. As part of her ROR, she was required to go back to jail once she was treated.
According to court documents, Quiovers was released from the hospital the next morning, but did not return to jail.
Washington was arrested on March 31 and is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond in the Boone County Jail.
Quiovers and Washington are facing charges of three counts of first-degree kidnapping and one count of second-degree murder.
