Columbia man attacks victim with 18 inch knife

Columbia police officers were called to the 500 block of Jackson Street for a physical disturbance with a weapon.

Anwar Gordon and a male victim had a verbal altercation. The victim reported during the argument, Gordon had an 18 inch knife and began “attacking” him with it. The victim found a hammer during the altercation and threw it at Gordon.

Officers saw a half inch to one inch laceration on the outside of the victim’s leg and a laceration to his back. While officers were speaking with the victim, he lost consciousness and was taken by Emergency Medical Services to a local hospital.

Gordon was arrested for armed criminal action, felony second degree assault and felony unlawful use of a weapon.
