Tracking a warm and windy Tuesday, active weather mid-week
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cool with lows near 30.
TOMORROW: Partly sunny and breezy with highs in the lower 60s. Winds gusting up to 30 mph at times.
EXTENDED: We'll drop to about 30 tonight with very little cloud cover overnight, but we're in for a big warm up tomorrow. Gusty south winds pick up to almost 30 mph at times Tuesday, getting us to around 60 degrees for a high. The breeze continues into tomorrow night and keeps us above freezing Wednesday morning. I'm tracking a strong low pressure system that will cross the Rockies this week, and bring impacts to Mid-Missouri by Wednesday afternoon. Showers start off scattered on Wednesday afternoon, with heavy rain and a few rumbles of thunder across the area Wednesday night. As temperatures drop on the back side of this system, we'll see a changeover to a wintry mix after about midnight or so on Wednesday night, transitioning to snow by Thursday morning for areas along and north of Highway 50. The snow ratios look somewhat low, meaning it's looking like a wet snow with accumulation possible for parts of Mid-Missouri. Total rain amounts will be between 1-2.5". We're chilly by Thursday night as temperatures take a nose dive into the upper single digits to low teens. A quieter pattern returns just in time for the weekend as temperatures rebound into the upper 40s on Saturday and upper 50s on Sunday.
