One person is hurt after a single car crash Thursday west of the Columbia Regional Airport.

It happened in the 4200 block of Minor Hill Road west of Highway 63 just after 9:30 p.m.

The driver of the car missed a curve in the road and his car went into the ditch, hitting a tree, according to a Boone County Deputy on scene.

The car then caught on fire, but the driver was able to get out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.

The driver was taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.

The Southern Boone County Fire Protection District was able to put out the fire quickly.
