Saturday Night-Marginal Severe Threat

There is a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Saturday night. A cold front will provide lifting, and possible strong storms in northwest Missouri after 7PM. It looks like the line will weaken with time and move into the counties of Chariton, Howard, Macon, and Saline by 8PM-10PM, and increase in Columbia in Boone County from 11PM-1AM. Heavy rain and lightning will be possible with Saturday night’s storms. Some of the strongest storms could produce large hail 1″ in diameter or greater and winds up to 60 mph.

Rain amounts look to range from 0.50″ to 1″ by Sunday morning. The rain looks to end before daybreak north of I-70, and mid morning from I-70 and HWY 50. Areas south of the Missouri River could see additional rain and storms where this front looks to stall during the day Sunday. The ground will be wet for Easter Egg hunting but it looks dry after 9AM for Columbia and Jefferson City. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
