Nichols holds on to school board seat after drawing in Ashland

More than a week after two Southern Boone County School District board members tied in the April election, a winner was drawn.

Incumbents Price Nichols and George Carney each garnered 329 votes in last Tuesday’s election.

ABC 17 News reported that the tie would be resolved either by a runoff election or a drawing out of a hat. The latter took place Wednesday afternoon. Nichols came out the winner.

He said he was glad he won, but was sad to see Carney leave.

Nichols said he was also disappointed with voter turnout.

The next board meeting is set for Monday, April 17.
