One man arrested after search in north Columbia
UPDATE, 10:25 p.m.: Columbia police have made an arrest after someone broke into the Masonic Lodge in north Columbia.
Police said they were called to the lodge near just before 7 p.m. Sunday.
Investigators determined a member of the lodge went to turn off the building’s alarm and saw a man hiding inside the building. The man did not have permission to be in the building and ran into the woods near the lodge.
A K-9 was called the scene and tracked the area. The K-9 found the man shortly after 7:30 near the wood line north of the lodge.
Edward L. Fritz, 34, from Columbia, was arrested for burglary.
ORIGINAL STORY: One person was taken into custody Sunday night after police searched an area in north Columbia.
Police were called to North Masonic Drive around 7 p.m.
ABC 17 News crews on scene saw one person in handcuffs placed into a Columbia police patrol car.
