Everyone safe after crews douse Callaway County mobile home fire
No one was hurt in a fire that mid-Missouri firefighters extinguished in mobile home fire near Holts Summit.
According to the Holts Summit Fire Protection District, crews found a mobile home with flames showing at the J & L Mobile Home Park Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters said they were able to contain the blaze to the living room and kitchen.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
“We are glad they were not home when the fire started,” said Holts Summit Fire Protection Public Information Officer Scott Pasley. “While en route to the scene our units could see from the smoke that the fire grew rapidly.”
Pasley told ABC 17 News that damage to the home was limited because a door to a room was closed.
“While the majority of the home suffered major damage, one bedroom had the hallway door closed. That room has very light smoke damage, and all of its contents will likely be recovered,” he said.
Fire investigators haven’t released what started the fire or how much the damage will cost.
The HSFPD reminds people to unplug their electrical devices, never leave an open flame unattended and to test all of your smoke detectors.
The Holts Summit Fire Protection District received assistance from New Bloomfield Fire, Holts Summit Police Department and the Callaway Ambulance District.
