Man charged with resisting arrest, witnesses saw him on Madison Street night of deadly shooting
A man was seen on Madison Street the night of a shooting that left one woman dead and another woman in the hospital. Police say officers were called to the shooting just before 6 p.m. Tuesday and then again after 10 p.m. During the investigation officers learned a black sport utility vehicle was involved in the shooting. Court documents say police learned an occupant of the suspect vehicle was a black male wearing a red hat, red jacket, and long dreads. The vehicle was found on High Quest Circle just before midnight on Wednesday. Detectives went to speak with Darold Pruitt and he pulled away from them, police said. Detectives saw several shell casings at the base of the windshield of the vehicle that were the same brand and caliber as the shell casings found at the Madison Street shooting. Court documents say in past dealings with Pruitt, he has been known to have long dreads and wear red clothing. Detectives also learned Pruitt has been driving a black Chevrolet Avalanche. Pruitt was arrested for resisting or interfering with arrest. Police say the investigation on the black sport utility vehicle is ongoing. According to court documents Pruitt has 40 prior arrests with the Columbia Police Department.
