Columbia police investigate armed robbery at Red Roof Inn

UPDATE, 12:30 a.m.: According to police, the suspect was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing.

No one was injured and no property was damaged.

The man is also described as thin, standing at five feet, 11 inches tall.

UPDATE, 9:37 p.m.: Police have cleared the scene.

An employee described the suspect as a light-skinned black male with a light-colored hooded jacket. He allegedly showed a gun and demanded money.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police are investigating an armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn.

The call went out around 8:40 p.m. for the crime with a gun in the 200 block of East Texas Avenue.

Multiple officers are on the scene investigating and searching the premises. A K-9 has also been tracking the area.

Police went inside to review surveillance video.
