Columbia man arrested after cocaine, meth investigation

An investigation into the sale and delivery of methamphetamine and cocaine led to the arrest of Jalon Pittman, 36, Wednesday morning.

Boone County deputies said they found drugs, a stolen gun and thousands of dollars in cash at Pittman’s home. Pittman also allegedly tried to flush meth down the toilet when deputies arrived and was unsuccessful.

Pittman is also prohibited from possessing a firearm, because he is currently on federal probation for other felonies not related to this case. In 2005, he was sentenced to almost 20 years in federal prison for drug offenses, including the intent to distribute cocaine.

His sentence was reduced less than 10 years later when the U.S. Sentencing Commission changed federal sentencing guidelines for crack cocaine offenses, according to Don Ledford, a spokesperson for the Department of Justice. Pittman was eligible for release in 2014.

Ledford said in 2015, Pittman’s supervised release was revoked after he violated conditions. He was sentenced to one year and one day in prison.

Boone County deputies arrested Pittman Wednesday on charges of tampering, delivering a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a firearm.
