Nor’easter and record March snow

As of 8AM Wednesday morning, here are some of the snow totals from Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey. Wind, low visibility, and ice will be an issue through the weekend. As the surface low has deepened, wind speeds have increased, bringing wind chills below 0. Record snow was picked up in Albany on March 14th where 17″ fell in 24 hours.

Some locations lucked out: Nassau county picked up 4″ to 4.5″ total. Central Park picked up 7.2″. Other areas including Orange County saw near two feet! Otisville reported 24″, Montgomery 23.5″, and Mount Hope at 23.0″.

High temperatures today will only top the low 20s, so melting is not expected today. Actual air temperatures look to fall to the single digits in upstate New York, possibly below 0 by Friday morning. It looks like over the weekend, only a few hours with temperatures above 32 so minor melting likely over the weekend.
