Man dies in Eldon crash; 2nd traffic fatality in mid-Missouri in March

A man died early Wednesday morning in Miller County after his vehicle struck several fence posts and overturned.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F’s crash report, 55-year-old Thomas W. Barnes was driving north on VFW Road north of Witt Road around 2 a.m. when his car ran off the left side of the road, hitting a fence and several fence posts, then overturned and landed on its top.

Barnes was pronounced dead at the scene by a Miller County coroner.

According to the crash report, Barnes was not wearing a seat belt.

This crash was Troop F’s second reported fatality in March and 16th in 2017.
