Tracking rain for St. Patrick’s Day & weekend preview

The cold weather continues one more day before southerly winds bring temperatures back up into the 50s and 60s. High pressure has settled over the central U.S. and will keep it chilly through Wednesday. By Thursday, it will feel much more like March as southerly winds warm afternoon temperatures into the 50s, closer to the 30 year average high of 55 degrees. A warm front lifts across Mid-Missouri Thursday night, bringing clouds and a chance of a few showers or a t-storm.

St. Patrick’s Day looks mild as temperatures climb into the mid 60s by afternoon. A cold front will move through during the day from the north, bringing a chance of showers. At this time, the best chance of rain is before 2 PM and will be fairly light with most areas only seeing a tenth of an inch or less.

Winds will shift back to the north behind the front and slightly cooler air will move in. However, it still looks pleasant for those celebrating St. Patricks’s Day Friday evening with decreasing clouds and temperatures down into the lower 50s by 10 PM.

The weekend will start off with mostly sunny skies and a seasonal day Saturday as temperatures stay in the 50s in the afternoon. We’ll pick up more clouds Sunday although it will be warmer with a slight chance of showers Sunday afternoon and evening. At this time the rain chance is very low and Sunday looks like a nice day to get outdoors.
