Emergency crews working school bus crash at Providence and Ash

UPDATE: Three people were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash.

A police officer on the scene told ABC 17 News that the driver of the red Mustang crashed into the blue Chevrolet rental car, which crashed into the school bus. Afterwards, two more vehicles crashed.

The Mustang and rental car were totaled.

Employees from local businesses said that as soon as they heard a loud crash, they saw the Mustang smoking, called 911 and went out to help.

An employee from Sun Loan Company told ABC 17 News that the driver and passenger of the Mustang were bleeding, but coherent.

Employees from Enterprise said that the driver in the rental car left the parking lot just before the crash.

Police are still investigating the crash.

ORIGINAL: The crash involved five vehicles, including a school bus. ABC 17 News has confirmed with Columbia Public Schools that no students were on the bus and that the bus driver was not injured.

Emergency crews are working quickly to clear the crash at Providence Road near Ash Street.

Dispatch records show the Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to the area at 8:45 am. Police are also scene.
