Snow Flurries Possible Overnight Friday
TONIGHT: The overcast skies stay with us as we head into the overnight hours, keeping the cold air locked in place. Thanks to this cold air, a freeze warning remains in effect for most of Mid-Missouri through at least Thursday morning. Temperatures tonight will bottom out in the mid 20s, with a northerly breeze under 15 mph. Wind chill values through most of the night into Tuesday morning will be cold in the teens to lower 20s, so bundle up. The system that brought us snow this morning, will still influence our weather somewhat. It’s likely that snow flurries will be possible overnight into Tuesday morning. Thanks to the freezing temperatures, ponding on roadways could freeze tonight causing slick spots, so be careful on the roads.
TUESDAY: Your morning commute Tuesday stays dry outside of a small chance of flurries. Overcast skies and moisture trapped near the surface will keep the snow flurries possible through the morning, mainly along and east of Highway 63. It will still be cold, as temperatures only warm into the mid 30s. The wind chill won’t be as brutal through the day, topping out in the upper 20s and lower 30s, with winds out of the north under 12 mph.
EXTENDED: We finally see the cold system exit to the east as we head into the middle of the week. Despite that, temperatures will tak a while to warm up. We stay dry through Thursday afternoon with temperatures climbing into the upper 40s and lower 50s. Rain returns Thursday evening into Friday morning. Friday afternoon may bring a few storms in southeast Mid-Missouri south of the Missouri River. By this weekend and the official start to spring, temperatures will be more pleasant in the mid 70s.
