Mid-Missouri road crews prepare for wintry mix

Another round of winter weather is expected to hit mid-Missouri during the overnight hours Sunday and into Monday morning.

Barry Dalton, a spokesperson for Columbia Public Works, said a full crew will be in at 7 a.m. Monday to begin treating the roads.

The Missouri Department of Transportation said it plans to monitor the forecast and bring crews in overnight to monitor the road conditions.

Cole County Public Works director Larry Benz told ABC 17 News crews will also be monitoring the weather conditions and will be on call if needed. Jefferson City Public Works said supervisors will be monitoring the road conditions.

Many road crews pretreated bridge decks and major roadways on Friday ahead of the snow.

Columbia Public Works is advising drivers to allow extra travel time during their Monday morning commute.
