Winter returns to Mid-Missouri along with snow and colder temps

TODAY: Light snow and flurries will continue for areas along and south of I-70 until the late afternoon hours. This system will track southeast throughout the day giving areas along and south of I-70 1/2″ in snow accumulation with possible pockets up to 1″. Highs will reach near 32 degrees north of I-70 while the Ozarks will reach the mid 30s with a northeasterly wind around 8 mph. Snow accumulation will be on grassy and elevated surfaces, as well as on untreated roads. So roads could be slushy while temperatures are near the freezing mark.

SUNDAY: It will be warmer Sunday with mostly sunny skies in the morning hours and increasing clouds by the early afternoon. The high will reach the upper 30s to lower 40s. A wintry mix moves in after 11 PM Sunday changing to snow into early Monday morning.

EXTENDED: During your Monday morning commute, there might be possible slick roads with minor snow accumulation possible. The snow will turn back to a mix of rain and snow and end as temperatures climb to the lower 40s Monday afternoon. Conditions will dry up by Tuesday with temperatures staying around the upper 30s and 40s, which is below the seasonal average. We will finally see conditions begin to warm up by next Friday with a slight chance of rain to follow.
