13 year-old crash victim dies from injuries

One of the children involved in Tuesday afternoon’s crash on westbound I-70 has died from her injuries.

Thirteen-year-old Shianna Mays was flown by helicopter from the crash to the hospital Tuesday. She was one of five injured in the crash. She was listed in serious condition at the hospital. She died Friday as a result of her injuries sustained in the crash.

According to police, Shianna Mays, Adrianna Mays, 10, and Tyler Mays, 9, were taken from a home in the 1700 block of Spiros Drive before the crash by Demetres Washington and a woman, who officers said originally identified herself as “Nia Boldridge.” While being treated at a local hospital for injuries sustained in the crash, warrants were issued for Washington and “Boldridge” for three counts of felony kidnapping.

Columbia Police officers arrested “Boldridge” Thursday outside of the University of Missouri Hospital on the warrant. It wasn’t until after the arrest was made that detectives said they received information that “Boldridge” was using a false name. Through the investigation, detectives determined that “Nia Boldridge” was actually Mackenzie Nakole Quiovers, 22, of Platte City, Mo. Quiovers is in in custody at the Boone County Jail.

Quiovers also appeared in court Friday. She is being held on a $300,00 bond is ordered to have no connect with the family involved. It’s not clear if Washington is still in the hospital recovering from injuries.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Columbia Police Department are currently investigating the circumstances of these incidents. The Missouri State Highway Patrol, which has been investigating the traffic crash, is now investigating this as a fatality crash due to the death of S. Mays. The Columbia Police Department is investigating the kidnapping. Additional charges are possible once the investigations are completed.

No additional information is available at this time on the condition of Washington, or the other two children involved in the crash.
