Deputies arrest wanted man after pursuit in Maries County

A Missouri man wanted on several felony charges was arrested Tuesday in Osage County after a chase with law enforcement.

The Maries County Sheriff’s Department said the pursuit started after a detective stopped a car on Johnson Street in Belle Tuesday evening.

The driver, Kerry Haines, 34, took off and the chase continued on Highway M into Osage County. The chase ended on County Road 717 after Haines allegedly crashed into a gate and drove into the woods.

Maries County deputies and Belle Police officers chased after Haines into the woods where he was eventually taken into custody.

The sheriff’s department said Haines had an outstanding warrant out of Gasconade County for tampering with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and careless and imprudent driving.

Haines is currently being held in the Maries County Jail.
