Colder Friday, weekend snow
TONIGHT : Showers and t-storms south of I-70 will move southeast of I-44 by 7 PM. It will be much colder with decreasing clouds and low temperatures near 30. A steady northwesterly breeze at 10-15 mph will generate wind chills near 20 by morning.
FRIDAY: It will be partly cloudy and cooler with high temperatures in the low 40s and a northeast breeze of 6-12 mph. EXTENDED: Friday night, a light wintry mix of sleet and snow will develop from 3-6 AM in the Ozarks with light snow developing north of I-70 after 4 AM. The wintery mix will change to periods of all snow through the afternoon before tapering off by early evening. Light accumulation of 1″ to 2″ is looking possible for most locations. We’ll need to monitor slightly higher accumulations up to 3″ for those north of I-70. Temperatures will be below or near freezing Saturday and untreated roads could be slick, especially bridges and overpasses. High temperatures will only reach the low 30s Saturday, falling into the upper teens by Sunday morning. Most of the day Sunday looks dry and cold with highs in the upper 30s but another chance of snow moves in after 9 PM Sunday into Monday morning, with possible slick roads for the morning commute.
