Columbia Police arrest man accused of setting car on fire

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Police arrested Leslie Lee Williams, 40, of Columbia on suspicion of arson early Friday morning.

CPD responded to a car on fire in the lot of Extended Stay at 2000 West Business Loop 70 around 1:35 a.m. on Friday.

Police eventually identified the suspect as Williams who had outstanding arrest warrants for first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. 

Police SWAT then took Williams into custody in the 3200 block of Elm Grove Drive without incident.

He was taken to the Boone County jail for two counts of arson and two counts of tampering in addition to the existing arrest warrants.

CPD says this is an ongoing investigation.
