BOSTON (AP) — More than a foot and a half of snow has fallen in some areas of the northeastern U.S. amid a fierce winter storm. Parts of 10 states from Virginia to Maine are under blizzard warnings Saturday. Wind gusts surpassed 70 mph in a few spots in Massachusetts. Boston could get over 2 feet of snow. Residents across the region are hunkering down to avoid whiteout conditions and stinging snow hurled by the fierce winds. The nor’easter is also causing coastal flooding and has cut power to over 100,000 people in Massachusetts. Bitter cold is expected to follow the storm.
