Morning Sun followed by afternoon isolated thunderstorms

TODAY: It won’t be as cool this morning, as temperatures will be in the mid 40s for the morning commute under a mostly sunny sky. Temperatures warm into the lower 70s with a chance of rain showers in the afternoon and evening, mainly near and south of I-70 from 2PM through 10PM. Isolated storms with large hail or strong wind gusts are possible. Up to a quarter inch of rain is possible.

TONIGHT: Skies look to be clearing north of I-70 by 7PM-9PM. Areas south will see decreasing clouds overnight with northerly winds under 10 mph. Temperatures will be cooler overnight returning to the mid 30s.

EXTENDED: Friday will be cooler with highs in the mid 40s. A band of snow moves in north of I-70 starting as early as 2AM late Friday night into Saturday morning. A mix of rain and sleet increases from the southwest near the Ozarks by 6AM-8AM increasing to areas south of I-70 through 9AM before changing over to snow for nearly all of Mid-Missouri late morning. Snow looks to taper off through 4PM-6PM near I-44. Minor accumulation of 1″ to 2″ is looking possible for most locations. We’ll need to monitor slightly higher accumulations for those north of I-70. We’ll have updates in coming days as new data comes in. Sunday looks dry and cold with highs in the mid 30s. We’ll keep an eye for possible snow returning again Sunday night into Monday morning of next week as a possible clipper looks to move in by Monday morning which could cause slick roads for the morning commute.
