Former Rock Bridge High School football player arrested for drug distribution

Columbia police officers performed a traffic stop on Tuesday on Clark Lane at Valley Creek Drive for a vehicle that had expired registration.

Officers searched the vehicle and found a bottle of Excedrin extra strength under Bryce Marquan Banks’ seat. Officers looked inside the bottle of Excedrin and found Xanax and Excedrin pills inside the bottle. Officers found 49 Xanax pills.

Banks originally committed to the University of Missouri to play football, but decommitted and went to play for North Carolina State.

“We have been made aware of the incident, will continue to gather information and proceed in accordance with our student-athlete policy,” said North Carolina State’s Senior Associate Athletic Director Fred Demarest to ABC 17

Banks was arrested for unlawful distribution of a controlled substance with a bond of $6,500. At last check, Banks has not been formally charged.
