Strong Evening Storms Possible for Monday
TODAY: A wind advisory is in effect for a good portion of Mid-Missouri through later this evening. As the day progresses, we’ll see an increase in our wind speeds ahead of a frontal boundary that will bring some strong storms. Sustained winds of 20-30 mph are possible, with wind gusts up to 40. This can make driving difficult for high impact vehicles and light weight vehicles. Temperatures will warm to highs in the mid to low 70s in the afternoon.
TONIGHT: As we head into the evening hours, we are under an enhanced risk of seeing strong storms. These storms will increase starting in northwest Mid-Missouri by 8PM-10PM. Storms will move in overnight towards Columbia by midnight ending in southeast Mid-Missouri by 3AM-4AM. All modes of severe weather are possible. Winds will become westerly overnight, while still breezy sustained near 10-15 mph. Temperatures will drop 10 degrees cooler tonight in the low 40s by daybreak Tuesday morning.
EXTENDED: It will be dry Tuesday through Thursday morning. There is a chance for rain returning by Thursday afternoon, mainly south of I-70. The upcoming weekend looks to bring possible storms by Friday night, with showers through much of Saturday. At this time, Sunday looks to be the dry day this upcoming weekend. This weekend will also be significantly cooler. We’ll see highs this weekend only in the lower 50s.
