Gusty winds and cloudy skies dominate our Sunday

TODAY: Blustery conditions will persist all day long and into tonight. Winds will hold strong from the south ranging from 9-21 mph with gusts at or even above 30 mph. Moisture will be flowing back into Mid-Missouri today, which is the reason why we will be seeing heavier cloud coverage in our skies. Due to the cloudy skies, our high temperature will be slightly cooler but still comfortable in the mid 60s. By tonight, winds will still be strong with temperatures in the upper 50s.
MONDAY: As moisture builds into Mid-Missouri, Monday morning holds the chance for some spotty AM showers as temperatures remain mild in the lower 50s. By the afternoon, there is a better chance for rain across the area as temperatures reach into the lower 70s. A chance for potential thunderstorms exists for Monday evening. Most of our viewing area is under a Slight Risk for severe weather, whereas our eastern-most counties are under a Marginal Risk. The main threat will be hail that can grow to 1″ in diameter or slightly bigger and winds at or above 58 mph. Accumulation totals could reach up to 1/2″ for areas south of US 24. Areas north may receive up to 1/4″. The rain is expected to dry up as the cold front pulls through overnight Monday.
EXTENDED: There is a slight chance for a few early Tuesday morning showers for counties along and south of I-44. The passage of this cold front will bring dry conditions back into Mid-Missouri by Tuesday late morning and for the rest of the week. Temperatures are expected to remain above average in the lower 60s and upper 50s. We will see another warming trend by Thursday and into Friday with temperatures reaching the upper 60s and even into the 70s.
