Fulton Public Schools staff member investigated for inappropriate electronic contact with student

ABC 17 News has acquired an email through a viewer tip about a Fulton Public Schools staff member having inappropriate electronic contact with a female student.

Parents received the following email from Fulton Public Schools:

“Fulton Police and FPS Staff are investigating a male employee’s inappropriate electronic contact with a female FPS student. To our knowledge, no physical contact has been determined. FPS administration is taking immediate steps to ensure the safety of all students when school resumes on Monday.”

Fulton Police Chief Steve Myers told ABC 17 News the school district notified the department about the alleged inappropriate communication Friday afternoon.

Myers said the investigation involves inappropriate language between a male high school teacher and a female high school student on Snapchat. He said detectives will be interviewing several people including the student and teacher during the investigation.

According to Myers, the teacher is not in custody at this time.
