Two men in custody after traffic stop ends in foot chase

Early Monday morning, ABC17 heard reports of police looking for a man near Providence and Vandiver.

When our crews arrived, there was police activity at both the Machen’s Dealership and the Rodeway Inn.

Police said an officer attempted to pull over a vehicle because a taillight was out.

The car eventually stopped in the Machen’s parking lot.

Officers say the passenger of the car got out and ran, while the driver stayed near the car.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department helped police search for the suspect.

They eventually found the passenger just a few hundred yards away near the Rodeway Inn.

Officers say they searched the car and found what they believe were drugs and drug paraphernalia.

They say they will test the substances to find out what they are.

Police say they have two men in custody.

ABC17 will be checking back in with police to learn the identities of the suspects.
