Sunday morning, February 5

TODAY: We are looking at a beautiful day to spend outside! Conditions will be brisk in the morning and evening; so make sure to have a coat handy for the AM and PM hours with a warm jacket for the afternoon. Sunday will be dry and sunny with temperatures reaching into the lower 50s. Winds will be tamer out of the west around 6 mph. Clouds will increase by the afternoon leading to a partly cloudy night with temperatures in the upper 30s.

MONDAY: Unlike Sunday, the start of our work week will be gloomy with the chance of scattered showers starting in the morning hours, especially near the Lake of the Ozarks region. This chance will continue for the rest of the day. Accumulation is expected to be minimal due to the scattered nature of the showers; no more than 1/10″. The good news is that temperatures will be around 20 degrees warmer than the seasonal average. By the afternoon, temperatures will reach the 60 degree threshold for many parts of Mid-Missouri thanks to persistent southerly winds. By Monday evening, scattered showers are still likely with temperatures staying in the lower 60s due to cloud cover trapping the heat overnight.

EXTENDED: The warming trend continues into Tuesday morning as cloud cover keeps temperatures near 60 degrees. A strong cold front will move through Tuesday afternoon. This will help kick up some rain Tuesday morning with a few imbedded thunderstorms possible. After the front passes through, it will send colder air into the region keeping the rest of our Tuesday on the dry side. High temperatures will only reach the mid 30s Wednesday. There is a slight snow chance Wednesday evening into Thursday. Friday holds the potential for warmer and dry conditions until another precipitation chance arrives by the weekend.
