Thursday, February 2 Afternoon Weather

TODAY: The return of winter temperatures is greeting us this afternoon, as highs will only top out in the mid 30s. Even under mostly sunny skies, we’ll have a hard time warming today. Canadian air has worked its way into Mid-Missouri, which is where the change in temperatures is coming from. Through the day, you can expect to see the northerly winds continue under 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Clouds look to increase overnight with northerly winds under 8 mph. A wind chill for the evening commute looks to be in the mid 20s, dropping to the mid teens again early Friday. Overnight lows will be in the low 20s along and south of I-70. Areas north of I-70, will likely wake up with temperatures in the teens and wind chill values pushing the lower teens.

EXTENDED: Friday continues to be cold with a northeast wind and a wind chill near 15-19 again early Friday morning. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 30s under mostly cloudy skies. During the day Saturday, much of the area looks to be dry with high temperatures in the upper 30s north to the lower 40s south of I-70. By late afternoon a few rain showers are possible but will be very light and spotty and mainly north of I-70. Any rain that does develop, moves out by midnight Saturday. Temperatures will warm to near 50 on Sunday with clouds decreasing during the day. Our next chance of rain moves in Monday with a few rumbles of thunder possible by evening. High temperatures will reach the lower 50s to start the work week. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
